Six topics, 103 articles, one platform
The archive is deliberately narrow. Everything here is about running, engineering, or growing a Shopify store — written by the people doing that work for D2C brands, not by a content team summarising other people's posts. Each cluster below links to its deepest guide.
Shopify engineering & performance
Core Web Vitals, speed budgets, headless and Hydrogen decisions, checkout extensibility, and what Shopify Plus actually changes technically.
Migrations & replatforming
Moving from Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud onto Shopify — sequencing, data, and protecting rankings through the cutover.
Conversion & CRO
Product page structure, mobile conversion, testing methodology, and the statistical mistakes that make most Shopify A/B tests unreliable.
AI & automation
Where AI genuinely pays for itself in a Shopify operation — support agents, catalogue content, forecasting — and where agentic commerce is actually heading.

Email and lifecycle flows, first-party data after the cookie, real CAC and LTV maths, and how discovery is changing as answer engines replace blue links.
Editorial standards for the Carryup blog
There are 103 articles here and every one of them is about Shopify. We don't publish general marketing advice, roundups of other people's roundups, or posts written to occupy a keyword rather than answer a question. The material comes out of engineering and growth work done for D2C brands — which is also why the archive is opinionated in places, and why some posts recommend not doing the thing you came here to research.
The standards below are the ones we actually hold posts to before publishing. They're written down because most ecommerce content is unattributed, undated, and quietly optimised to sell the author's services, and it's reasonable to want to know which of those apply before you act on something you read.
Who writes these, and why that matters
Posts are written by the people doing the engineering and growth work, not by a separate content team briefed from a keyword list. Every article carries a named author and a publication month, so you can see how current it is and who stands behind it. That has an obvious limitation worth naming: a small team writing from its own practice covers fewer topics than a content operation can, and the archive reflects what we actually work on rather than everything a Shopify merchant might want to read about. We'd rather have that gap than fill it with articles nobody here has the experience to write. Where a post draws on someone else's published data or an official Shopify source, it's cited inline rather than absorbed as background.
Real numbers, or none at all
Cost guides, pricing comparisons, and ROI posts quote figures we can stand behind — current vendor pricing, published platform rates, and the bands we actually see in the market — with the date and the source made clear. Where a number is a range rather than a fixed price, we give the range and explain what moves it, because a single confident figure for something like "Shopify development cost" is nearly always misleading. We don't manufacture market-size statistics, invent conversion benchmarks, or attribute made-up percentages to unnamed studies. If we can't source a number, the post argues its case without one. This is the single most common failure in ecommerce content and it's the standard we're strictest about.
No client data without permission
Nothing here reveals a client's private metrics, architecture, or commercial terms. Where a post draws on real engagement experience, it's generalised into a pattern — the shape of a problem and how it was solved — rather than presented as an identifiable case. Client results that are published appear on the work pages, with the client's agreement and their name attached, not scattered anonymously through blog posts as unverifiable anecdote. The separate case studies library is different again: those are independent analyses of public companies we have never worked with, built entirely from cited public sources, and each one states plainly that Carryup did not do the work.
Comparisons that name the losing case
A comparison post that concludes the author's preferred option wins every time isn't a comparison. Our platform and tool comparisons — Shopify against BigCommerce, WooCommerce, or Wix; Klaviyo against its alternatives — are structured around which scenarios each option genuinely wins, including the ones where Shopify is the wrong answer. The same applies to service-adjacent topics: posts on headless commerce, custom app development, and replatforming all spend real space on when not to do it, because the expensive mistake in each case is doing it prematurely rather than choosing the wrong vendor. If a recommendation only ever points toward work we sell, it isn't analysis.
Updated, dated, and corrected
Shopify changes continuously and so does everything built on it — pricing, plan structures, checkout capabilities, app ecosystems, and the tooling around Hydrogen and Functions. Posts carry a publication date so you can judge their currency at a glance, and the ones people rely on most — cost guides, migration guides, platform comparisons — get revised when the underlying facts move rather than left standing with stale figures. When we get something wrong we correct the post itself instead of quietly deleting it. If you spot an error, an outdated price, or a claim that no longer holds, tell us and we'll fix it.
How to use the archive
The tag filters above are the fastest route in — they map to the six clusters listed on this page, covering engineering and performance, migrations, conversion, AI and automation, cost and hiring, and retention and discovery. If you're researching a specific decision, the cost and comparison guides are the most detailed material here and the best starting point. If you're weighing an agency or a developer, the hiring guide covers what to check before signing. And if you'd rather read about what other brands actually did than what we think, the case studies library holds independent, sourced analyses of well-known D2C companies — none of them our clients, all of them cited.
