New, small, and
focused on purpose
Carryup is a Shopify studio based in Bangalore, founded in 2025. We build D2C stores and then stay on them — maintenance, landing pages, SEO, design, and performance work, month after month. Obeetee is the clearest example: we built both their India and UK storefronts and still run them.
We are not going to claim a decade of history or a large bench, because neither is true. What is true is that we are small enough that the people who talk to you are the people writing the code, we only work on Shopify, and we would rather turn down work that sits outside that than take it and learn on your budget.
Five things we hold ourselves to
One platform, properly
Shopify and Shopify Plus, nothing else. It is a deliberate limit: we would rather be genuinely good at one platform than average across five. If your project needs something else, we will say so instead of taking it.
Build it, then keep it running
Most of our work is building a store and then staying on it — landing pages, SEO, design, performance, fixes. We are more useful in month twelve than month one, which is the opposite of how project-shop work usually goes.
The people who pitch are the people who build
There is no account-manager layer, because at our size there is no room for one. You talk to whoever is doing the work. That is a real advantage of being small, and it disappears the moment we stop being small.
Diagnose before quoting
We look at the architecture, integrations, checkout, and page speed before proposing anything. Sometimes that means telling you the fix is smaller than you expected, or that you do not need us yet.
Honest over agreeable
We will push back on a brief we think wastes money, and we will tell you when something is outside what we do well. We would rather lose the project than take payment for work we do not believe in.
Eight brands. Real stores, real names, click through and check.
The honest version: what a one-year-old Shopify studio is and isn't good for
Agency about-pages tend to imply more history and more people than actually exist. Ours used to do that, so this section is a correction. Carryup was founded in 2025. We are four to six people. We work only on Shopify. Everything below is written with those three facts in view, including the parts that argue against hiring us.
Why we only build on Shopify
Shopify and Shopify Plus are the entire surface area we work on. That is a deliberate limit and it costs us every enquiry that arrives about WooCommerce, Magento, or a custom stack. What it buys is depth: Shopify ships platform changes continuously — Checkout Extensibility, Functions, Markets, B2B, Hydrogen — and staying genuinely current on those is a standing commitment rather than something absorbed alongside three other ecosystems. A small team can be properly good at one platform. The same team spread across five would be mediocre at all of them, and we would rather tell you we do not do something than find out on your project.
What being small actually gets you, and what it costs
There is no account-manager layer here, because at four to six people there is no room for one. You talk to the people writing the code, and answers do not degrade through a relay. That is a real benefit and we will not pretend it is a grand philosophy — it is a property of our size. The cost side is equally real: we take a limited number of clients at a time, we cannot staff a large programme running several parallel workstreams at volume, and if you need a vendor with a deep bench to absorb sudden scope, that is not us. Both of those are worth knowing before you sign anything, not after.
We build stores and then stay on them
The bulk of our work is not one-off project delivery. It is building a store and then maintaining it — landing pages, technical SEO, design updates, performance work, and fixes, continuously. Obeetee is the clearest example: we built both their India and UK storefronts and still run them today as separate stores. This is the shape of engagement we are best at, and it is also where a small team is genuinely more useful than a large one, because context accumulates in the same few heads rather than being handed between rotating staff.
Who should not hire us
If you need a first store on a tight budget and a well-chosen theme with careful setup would genuinely do the job, you do not need us and we will say so. If you want one vendor covering several ecommerce platforms, we are the wrong shape. If you need a large team to execute a fixed plan without questioning it, we will be an irritant, because we push back on briefs we think waste money. And if you are specifically looking for a partner with a decade of track record behind them, that is a fair requirement and we do not meet it yet — we are a year old, and we would rather you weigh that openly than discover it later.
Tell us about your store.
We'll come back with a clear, honest take — no pitch, no pressure.
